The analysis follows a balance-sheet approach, through which annual production is converted into monthly supply estimates using harvest patterns, while monthly market arrivals are used to determine the distribution of sales across the year. Since tomato is a highly perishable commodity with limited storage potential, the framework does not incorporate a storage-release mechanism. The resulting monthly availability is compared with estimated demand to derive indicators such as the Availability Gap and Supply-Demand Ratio, which are subsequently used to study tomato price fluctuations.
